The Heckman House

Spacious-room for the whole family or fishing party.

This is a large apartment of 1200 sq. ft. so while one person can be watching the sunset (or TV); at the other end of the house, fifty feet away, another person can be taking a nap or reading a book, undisturbed. There are seven rooms and every room has a great view.

This house can sleep a maximum of 6 people. It has two queen beds, one twin bed and an optional day bed that can be set up in the living room. Please let us know in advance if you would like the day bed set up in the living room.

There are views of the Tongass Narrows, Pennock Island and Gravina Island, Deer Mountain and the ridges and mountains behind it.

While watching one of Ketchikan’s harbors, you might see an Alaskan commercial fishermen come in to port. In only minutes you can walk down and have first pick of the freshest Alaskan seafood from the fisherman himself!

The fact is, even those of us who have lived here all of our lives are still in love with the beauty. Please come and experience it yourself!

Many extras. We provide private phone, cable TV, wireless internet, bathtub/shower, and the kitchen is equipped with a complete cooking and dining ensemble. There is a washer and dryer and Off street parking is provided.

J.R. Heckman was a local Ketchikan Businessman who, in 1908, designed the Floating Fish Trap, a revolutionary method to catch salmon. Which would lead to Ketchikan’s fame as the Salmon Capital of the World.
